People around the world love to watch animated films and television shows. In considering the best animator of all time six names repeatedly come to the forefront.
The first one is Ralph Bakshi, who has created many famous animated movies, including Lord of the Rings, Fire and Ice and Fritz the Cat. He has received the Maverick Tribute Award from the Cinequest San Jose Film Festival, and has three films listed among the top 100 animinated features of all time by the Online Film Critics Society. He is the owner of Bakshi School of Animation and Cartooning in Silver City, New Mexico.
A second name which repeatedly comes to the forefront is John Kircfaluci. He was born Michael John Kricfalusi, and as time has gone by the name Raymond Spum. He is the creator of Ren and Stimpy and the Mighty Mouse along with Ralph Bakshi. It has been said of Mr. Kircfaluci that his characters show more emotion than any others ever created.
A third name that continually comes to the forefront is Michel Ocelot, best known for Kirikou and the Sorceress, He served as president of the International Animated Film Association for six years. He writes all his own stories and draws all his own animations. His work often focuses on legends and fables.
Many people are drawn to the work of Konstantin Bronzit. As a graduate of St. Petersburg Repin Institute of Fine Art his short film won the Best Scenario Award in 2007 at the prestigious Open Russian Festival of Animated Films. He is best known for his film Alosha.
A fourth name that repeatedly shows up on the list of the greatest animators of all time is Tom Moore. Growing up in Dublin he received training as a printmaker before turning his attention to animation. He is still very active as an illustrator, printmaker, and animator.
